Dear Friends,
I'm glad everyone's hols are off to good starts, what? Malfoy, I'm sorry I missed your birthday party; it sounds like Pansy did a wonderful job planning and all the guests had a marvellous time. I say, Pansy, it was kind to invite me even knowing that I'd be here.
The testing is well exhausting but quite interesting.
After yesterday's flying and all the rushing about, I'm rather happy we had more mental exercises today. (It's been so long since I've been broom-back! I always expect it to behave like a horse and it's jolly well surprising when it just shoots straight up!) It's bally well fascinating the sorts of questions. I imagine that having the examiners looming over one's shoulder is part of the plan, what? It's a clever way to determine how one responds to an unnerving sort of pressure.
Did anyone else have trouble not laughing during the taste-testing bit? Of course it wasn't as simple as swallowing random Bertie Botts', was it? I say, Ron, Sally-Anne, did your lot go through that last year or do they change the sorts of tests they give?
Only, I'm sure everyone's quite anxious to find out who's made the final group for the rising-fourths.
As for me, I'm looking forward to going to stay with the Jugsons. Remy's already an acquaintance but it's been fortunate we've had this week to get to know one another a bit better.

Private Message to Dux
Date: 2012-06-22 01:57 am (UTC)Have you been talking to Norma? I say, I know she was well upset when that pink woman said something about her mother. I couldn't hear what it was--I was trying not to overhear, what? but Norma obviously found the remark cruel from the way she reacted.
I heard a rumour that Whitacre rather muffed the last set of questions. Or did he simply not bother with them at all? He seemed to finish well before anyone else.
I'm not sure what Remy thinks he has up his sleeves but there's something. He's behaving far too helpfully. I say, do you reckon he expects to cosy up now so he can cause trouble later?
I shall miss you, even if it's only for a few weeks until we're on a YPL trip. If we're on one together, I suppose! I'm not confident we shall be, though.
But perhaps there's a way for you to spend time with your cousins, or they with you? We'll have to think about it.
I wonder if your uncle would object if I bought an owl in New London tomorrow?

Date: 2012-06-23 03:05 am (UTC)I don't think Corey is too fussed about getting into CCF, so he probably didn't bother. A lot of people don't think that they need CCF, and they're probably right about that.
Oh, my Aunt and Uncle probably just bribed Remy to be on his best, most helpful behaviour with you. That's what they usually do. So now is probably as good a time as any to ask them if you can buy an owl!
I'm a bit sad you will be put in the 5th year CCF, but I suppose it's only right that it work out that way, since you are a 5th year, after all.

I Solemnly Swear That I Am Up To No Good
Date: 2012-06-22 02:52 am (UTC)Was it this gruelling for you lot last year? Well, apart from falling off my broom on the first attempt; I hadn't expected that but it's not terribly surprising.
Luna, you've done particularly well, I think. Not that one can tell precisely what they want, what, given the way the examiners have been bickering. Did you notice? The witch in pink--is that Madam Umbridge?--she caused quite a stir yesterday over that flying incident. And then today, of course, when she was asking several of your classmates to justify their responses. I say, she's well intolerable, isn't she?
Professor Siz doesn't seem to care for her, either, and she's about as affable a person as one could ever hope to know.
I've got to finish packing but I'm sure we'll see each other on the train?

Date: 2012-06-22 02:55 am (UTC)I remember the testing not being especially fun but I don't remember a taste test. There was a pain tolerance test, I just took my hand out of the box as soon as it started hurting because I don't think Slytherins have to apologise for wanting to avoid pain.
